PMUY Beneficiaries

A woman who belongs to a BPL family and does not have LPG connection in her household can avail the benefit of PMUY scheme. However, she must be included in the SECC 2011 list or under the seven identified categories namely People residing in river islands, SC/ST households, Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, PMAY (Gramin), Forest dwellers, AAY, and Most Backward Classes (MBC).



Eligibility Criteria

In order to avail the benefit of PMUY, you need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Should be an Indian citizen

  • Should be above 18 years of age

  • Should be a woman from a BPL family who doesn't have LPG connection

  • Should not be availing any benefit under other similar schemes

  • Beneficiaries should be included in the list of SECC 2011 or BPL households under SC/ST households, PMAY (Gramin), AAY, Most Backward Classes (MBC), forest dwellers, people residing in river islands or Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes.

Documents Required

The documents which needs to be submitted are listed below:

  • BPL certificate issued by the municipality chairman or panchayat pradhan

  • Caste certificate

  • One passport-sized photograph

  • Photo identity proof

  • Address proof

  • BPL ration card

  • Aadhaar numbers of all the members of the family

  • Bank passbook or details of Jan Dhan bank account

  • Duly signed 14-point declaration in the prescribed format

How to Register and Apply for Ujjwala Yojana

The registration process for availing benefit under the PMUY scheme is mentioned below. Read on to know about the step-wise process:

Step 1 - Collect the application form from the nearest LPG distributor or download it from www.pmuy.gov.in

Step 2 - Fill up the form

Step 3 - Submit the form at the LPG distributor office

Step 4 - Once the application is submitted, it will be processed. An LPG connection will be issued by various oil marketing companies once documents are verified and eligibility is checked.

Ujjwala Yojana Registration 2023

The full name of this scheme is- Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This scheme has been launched by PM Narendra Modi under the Ministry of Petroleum Gas. The main benefits of this scheme can be availed only by the poor family women of India. Under this scheme, LPG gas cylinders will be made available to you. You can easily apply for this scheme sitting at home in online mode. This scheme has been launched at the national level.

Under this scheme, these gas cylinders will be provided free of cost to you. Through this, the installment of the second cylinder will also be sent to you 15 days after the installment of the first cylinder. This installment will be made available to your bank account only.


PMUY Scheme Features

  • This scheme has been started by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

  • Its benefit will be made available only to women belonging to poor families.

  • Under this scheme, you will be provided with a free LPG gas cylinder.

  • You can apply for this scheme online mode.

  • You must be above 18 years of age to apply.

  • Only women belonging to economically weaker sections can apply for it.

  • You must have a bank account to apply.

  • Money will be directly transferred to the bank account by the government to buy gas.

  • If you have a 5 Kg gas cylinder then you will be provided 8 cylinders in 3 months.

  • One gas cylinder will be provided free of cost to the beneficiary every month.

  • 15 days after paying the installment of the first cylinder, the installment of the second cylinder will also be sent to you.

  • Even if you live on rent and do not have a residence certificate, you can still get gas cylinders under this scheme.

Budget and Funding of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The government has already allocated Rs. 2000 crore for the Ujjwala Yojana implementation for the financial year 2016-17.

Total budgetary allocation of Rs. 8000 Crore has been made by the government for the implementation of the scheme over three years.
